Dengue cases down by 72% in the Bicol Region

The Department of Health – Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Bicol’s Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) noted 1, 271 dengue cases from January to August 1, 2020 (Morbidity Week 31). This is a 72% decrease as compared to the same period in 2019 (N=4,596). There were 12 deaths (case fatality ratio of 1%) reported for the said period this year as compared to 48 deaths in the same period last year.
 
The province of Camarines Sur records the highest number of dengue cases in the Region with 612 cases and 3 deaths, followed by Sorsogon with 241 cases and 3 deaths, Camarines Norte with 153 cases and 2 deaths, Albay with 112 cases and 4 deaths, Masbate with 110 cases, Catanduanes with 39 cases. There were four (4) cases reported who were from other regions.
 
Preventing cases from escalating is a primary concern. The DOH-CHD Bicol urges all Bicolanos to follow the 4S, which means Search and Destroy, Self-Protection Measures, Seek Early Consultation, and Say Yes to fogging when there is an impending outbreak.

Pahayag patungkol sa Kalagayan ng COVID-19 Testing sa Rehiyon

Sa mga nagdaang araw, napansin natin na maraming katanungan tungkol sa pagkaantala ng mga test results sa COVID 19 . Nais ng Kagawaran ng Kalusugan – Bicol na bigyang linaw ang mga katanungan tungkol dito.

Sa kaalaman ng lahat mayroong dalawang laboratoryo na accredited ng RITM na nagsasagawa ng COVID19 testing sa Rehiyon. Ito ay ang Bicol Regional Diagnostic and Reference Laboratory (BRDRL) sa Legazpi City na gumagamit ng RT-PCR test at ang Bicol Medical Center (BMC) Testing Center sa Naga City na gumagamit ng PCR based GeneXpert Test.

Ang BRDRL ay nakakagawa ng 380 hanggang 480 test sa isang araw gamit ang automated extraction machine. Ang BMC Testing Center naman ay nakakagawa ng 40 -60 test sa isang araw. Sa ating pagtatala, ang pinakamataas na naisagawang pagsusuri ng BRDRL sa isang araw ay 381 at ang BMC ay 88.

DOH CHD Bicol Completes Distribution of Ambulances

The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) Bicol completes the distribution of sixty (60) units of land ambulances and eight (8) units of sea ambulances across the Bicol Region last Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at the DOH-CHD Bicol, Legazpi City with the last batch of twenty-four (24) units of land ambulances.

Earlier this year, six (6) units of land ambulances were distributed last March 9, eight (8) units on March 11, twenty-one (21) units on July 6 and one (1) unit on July 7. One (1) unit of sea ambulance was also released last March 6. All are funded from the 2019 budget while 7 sea ambulances funded from the 2018 budget were awarded last year.

For the land ambulances, Camarines Sur received twenty-five (25) units; Albay, eighteen (18); Sorsogon eight (8); Catanduanes, six (6); and Camarines Norte, three (3). For the sea ambulances, Albay received one (1) unit; Masbate, five (5) units and Camarines Norte two (2) units.

DOH Bicol records 4 new COVID-19 cases, 1 Death

The Department of Health Center for Health Development - Bicol reports four (4) new confirmed cases of COVID-19. The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Bicol Region is now eight hundred eight (808). One (1) death has also been recorded today.

Of the 4 new cases, two (2) are from Camarines Sur (1 Milaor, 1 Garchitorena) and two (2) from Naga City.

The 4 new cases are tagged as patients with local code Bicol#805 to Bicol#808 with details below arranged per Municipality/City/Province.
