The Department of Health (DOH) is mandated to be the over-all technical authority on health. The major mandate of DOH is to provide national policy direction and develop national plans, technical standards and guidelines on health.

           Aside from being the regulator of all health services and products, the DOH is the provider of special tertiary health care services and technical assistance to health providers and stakeholders.

          Given the mandate, DOH is both a stakeholder in the health sector and a policy and regulatory body for health.

          The Department of Health is the executive Department of the Philippine government responsible for ensuring access to basic public health services by all Filipinos through the provision of quality health care and the regulation of all health servcices and products. It hasits main headquarters at the San Lazaro Compound along Rizal Avenue in Manila.
