Bicol all set for Mass PhilPEN Risk Assessment Activity

The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) in coordination with the Local Government Units (LGUs) and other health partners across the Bicol Region will conduct the first-ever Regional Community-Based House-to-House Mass PhilPEN Risk Assessment Campaign for 2023. This activity will be held for the whole month of March 2023 that aims to screen Bicolanos for possible risk factors of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and hypertension.

Based on the data of the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD), reported Fireworks Related Injuries (FWRI) in the Bicol Region reached a total of four (4) cases as of December 27, 2022. Two (2) cases were reported in Camarines Sur, one (1) from Camarines Norte, and one (1) from Albay. All cases were reported to be minors, with the youngest at seven years old and the oldest at fifteen years old.
DOH Bicol launches Baranggayang Suyod Bakuna: Urges Cooperation of Public and LGUs

The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) launched the Baranggayang Suyod Bakuna (BSB) in the region yesterday, November 14, 2022. This is an initiative of DOH Bicol CHD to increase the wall of immunity of the Bicol Region against COVID-19 through COVID-19 vaccination. The BSB also aims to increase coverage for routine immunization. The said initiative will run until December 16, 2022.
DOH Bicol promotes proper sanitation during World Toilet Day 2022 celebration

In line with the observance of World Toilet Day 2022, the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) promotes proper sanitation and waste management. In a message delivered during the celebration in Pilar, Sorsogon on November 11, 2022, Undersecretary for Health Dr. Nestor F. Santiago Jr. emphasized the importance of observing World Toilet Day. In his keynote message, he stated that poor sanitation remains to be a critical public health and environmental health problem. “Hygiene and sanitation are paramount in our mission to interrupt the spread of diseases and to stop the deaths caused by ill environments, as there is a distinctive link between sanitation and good health,” he said in the Bicolano language.
DOH Bicol CHD celebrates World Mental Health Day; introduces Lusog Isip App

The Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development (DOH Bicol CHD) celebrated the World Mental Health Day on October 11, 2022 at Hotel Venezia, Legazpi City by introducing the Lusog Isip Application. This is an online application to keep track of one’s daily mental health status. It uses evidence-based screening tools and interventions to help individuals on their journey toward better overall well-being and healthier coping strategies.
